Underwriting Associate I

Western National Insurance Group is a private mutual insurance company with over 120 years of experience in property-and-casualty insurance. The Underwriting Associate I will assist the Commercial Lines Operations Team in profitable premium growth by processing policies and providing technical support for new and renewal business. Responsibilities Assists underwriters in the daily underwriting and processing of new and renewal business, endorsements, and premium audit transactions Uses established practices, processes, and procedures to renew and write new policies based on underwriting authority level Makes decisions and recommendations for varied situations while applying judgment to interpret related information, policies, and procedures Applies knowledge to help solve problems of relatively limited scope and complexity Communicates with assigned agencies and underwriters, creating and delivering varied types of messages and information Skills Knowledge of property-and-casualty industry practices, standards, and underwriting concepts Proven analytical skills Effective oral and written communication skills Demonstrated ability to multitask and solve basic problems Strong negotiation and relationship-building skills Ability to meet deadlines and manage time well Bachelor's degree in insurance or finance, or equivalent related experience AU and / or INS certification preferred Benefits Medical insurance plan options and other standard employee benefits, including dental insurance, vision benefits, life insurance, disability insurance, and more!
