Job Summary

We are seeking an experienced Underwriter specializing in Group Insurance with a focus on Dental and Vision plans. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in underwriting mid-to-large sized groups (100+ lives) and a minimum of 5 years of experience evaluating, pricing, and managing risk for rated groups. This role requires analytical rigor, sound judgment, and the ability to collaborate with sales and account management teams to deliver competitive and sustainable pricing.

Key Responsibilities
• Evaluate and underwrite group insurance cases for Dental and Vision plans with 100 or more enrolled members.
• Analyze risk factors including demographics, claims history, plan design, and industry trends.
• Develop pricing models and rate proposals aligned with company guidelines and profitability targets.
• Review and assess renewal business, providing recommendations for rate adjustments and plan modifications.
• Collaborate with sales, brokers, and account managers to support new business acquisition and retention.
• Ensure compliance with underwriting policies, regulatory requirements, and internal audit standards.
• Maintain accurate documentation of underwriting decisions and rationale.
• Monitor portfolio performance and recommend corrective actions when needed.
• Stay updated on market trends, competitor offerings, and regulatory changes in group insurance.

Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Business Administration, Actuarial Science, or a related field.
• Minimum 5 years of underwriting experience in Dental and Vision insurance for rated groups.
• Proven experience handling group sizes of 100+ members.
• Strong analytical and quantitative skills with proficiency in underwriting tools and spreadsheets.
• Ability to interpret claims data and financial reports.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Detail-oriented with strong organizational abilities.
