Join Priority Financial Network as an Underwriter with Specialized Expertise in Government Lending Programs We are seeking an experienced Underwriter with a deep understanding of government-backed lending programs. In this role, you will be responsible for evaluating home loan applications and accompanying documents to determine the borrower’s creditworthiness. The position involves handling a variety of loan types, including but not limited to agency and government programs (FHA/VA/USDA). You will provide clear recommendations on credit applications, whether approval or denial, with thorough documentation to support each decision. Key Responsibilities: • Analyze mortgage applications and supporting documents (income, assets, credit, property value) to assess borrower’s creditworthiness. • Ensure loans meet agency and government program guidelines (FHA, VA, USDA) and investor requirements. • Validate and update information in loan origination systems, ensuring accuracy and completeness. • Utilize automated underwriting systems (DU/LP) and quality control tools (FraudGuard, Early Check). • Provide approval or denial recommendations with clear documentation to support lending decisions. • Assist with resolving post-closing issues and re-evaluate loans as needed when new information is received. • Maintain production standards and accurate system records. • Other related duties, as assigned Qualifications: • College degree is preferred • A minimum of 2 years of recent experience in Government Underwriting within the mortgage industry is essential. • Proficiency with automated underwriting systems (AUS) and loan origination systems. • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. • Ability to work independently as well as in a collaborative team environment. • Experience with manual underwriting guidelines for FHA and/or VA loans is required. • FHA DE and/or VA SAR certifications are mandatory.
