About Dine College and the Tsaile Learning Center Dine College, located in Tsaile, Arizona, is a tribal college that has been serving the Navajo Nation for over 50 years. The Tsaile Learning Center, a vital part of our college, offers students a supportive and inclusive environment where they can access tutoring, academic support, and cultural resources. Position Overview As a Tsaile Learning Center Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the learning center, providing tutoring and academic support to students, and promoting the Navajo Language and Culture programs. Key Responsibilities Tutoring and Coaching: Provide individualized and group tutoring to students in Navajo Language courses (NAV 101, 102, 201, 202, and 211), focusing on grammar, pronunciation, composition, and critical thinking. Student Support: Assist students in understanding course content, provide guidance on assignments, and support students with online course platforms (e.g., Blackboard, Zoom). Resource Development: Compile and develop Navajo Language resources to share with students, promoting their academic success and cultural enrichment. Workshop Leadership: Lead and participate in workshops on Navajo Language and Culture, both in-person and online, to support student learning and engagement. Campus Networking: Collaborate with faculty, staff, and student affairs to identify needs, promote the Learning Center's tutoring program, and ensure academic success. Data and Reporting: Maintain accurate records, provide feedback to referring sources, and submit monthly reports and tutoring logs. Requirements and Qualifications Education and Experience: Minimum: Two or more semesters of Navajo Language and Navajo Culture with emphasis on reading and writing Navajo. Preferred: Completed higher-level courses in Navajo Language and Navajo Culture with emphasis on reading and writing Navajo. Enrollment: Full-time or part-time enrolled Dine College students during the current semester with 40 or more credit hours earned and a 3.00 cumulative GPA. Knowledge: Navajo Language and Culture: Proficient in course subjects of NAV and NIS courses. FERPA: Knowledge of the Family Education Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA) of 1974. Office Equipment: Familiarity with general office equipment, such as copiers, fax machines, and scanners. Workshop Planning: Knowledge of how to plan a workshop with activities. Skills: Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills. Microsoft Office: Familiarity with Microsoft Office suites and instructional software. Responsibility: Must be responsible, reliable, and punctual with a positive attitude. Customer Service: Excellent customer service skills. Abilities: Navajo Language Fluency: Ability to speak, read, write, and understand Navajo language fluently. Critical Thinking: Ability to explain complex Navajo Language concepts simply and effectively. Workshop Planning: Ability to plan workshops with activities throughout the semester. Data Collection: Ability to collect data and formulate reports. Work Environment and Physical Requirements Work Environment: Works primarily in a climate-controlled environment, with flexibility to work evening and weekend hours during the semester. Physical Requirements: Ability to lift 20 lbs boxes and work in a fast-paced environment. Compensation and Benefits Competitive salary of $15 per hour. Why Join Our Team?
