This senior level recognized resource position will function as Michigan's sole Chemical Threat Response Training Coordinator for the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's (CDC)Public Health Emergency Preparedness cooperative agreement. This position will be responsible for coordinating statewide implementation of project activities, coordination with other public health, hospital, and commercial diagnostic laboratories, development of protocols for specimen collection, handling and shipment, in-service training, conducting meetings and evaluating laboratory preparedness activities program for the detection and identification of chemical agents of terrorism. This position will also work with First Responders when they encounter potential hazardous situations. Duties will require good familiarity with clinical toxicology or analytical chemistry methods and instrumentation; competent in LRN-C methods, extensive knowledge of clinical lab sciences and operations; and experience meeting grant/program objectives. Collaboration and coordination of these activities with the Division of Chemistry & Toxicology, Division of Infectious Disease, MDHHS Epidemiology, MDHHS Environmental Health Bureau, and MDHHS Division of Emergency Preparedness & Response is required. Collaboration with other agencies such as Hazmat/First Responders, Department of Environmental, Great Lakes & Energy, and Michigan State Police will be expected. See instructions for attaching files here: Instructions Education Possession of a bachelor's degree in chemistry, biochemistry, biology, microbiology, forensic science, or a related pure or applied science. Experience Three years of professional experience carrying out a variety of tests, analyses, or production and research activities involving chemical, biochemical and biological samples, specimens, and products equivalent to a Laboratory Scientist, including one year equivalent to a Laboratory Scientist P11. The preferred and appointed candidate will be subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, reasonable suspicion, return-to-duty and follow-up drug and/or alcohol testing. Position Location/Remote Office:
The physical location of this position is 3350 N. Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd. in Lansing, MI. Employees will be provided computers to perform state work.
