Thermal Senior Principal Engineer

Thermal Engineering leads and delivers the development of innovative and compliant thermal design solutions, as well as cross-functional interfaces for computer systems and peripherals. Our team conducts the analysis, feasibility studies and testing of thermal products, instruments, subassemblies and packaging for new and existing products – and then oversees the introduction of design changes to the manufacturing organizations.

What you’ll achieve
As a Thermal Senior Principal Engineer, you will be responsible for development of Rack-Level Data Center AI solutions. You will work with our global thermal, electrical and mechanical engineering community on cutting edge AI solutions.

You will:
• Design of rack-level heat exchange and coolant distribution
• Design coolant distribution solutions within the loop for parallel flow solutions and support cooling network sizing
• Develop concepts for new innovative air and liquid cooling concepts and establish feasibility
• Collaborate with mechanical engineering for design tradeoffs in rack-level air and liquid cooling solutions
• Ensure designs are manufacturable and highly reliable

Essential Requirements
• 12+ years in a thermal engineering role or equivalent skill
• Expertise in internal fluid dynamics and heat transfer
• Experience with electronics cooling, cooling distribution units (CDUs) and thermal systems controls
• Skilled at analyzing options and selecting critical design elements for product development
• Excellent communication skills with ability to collaborate with and influence global teams

Desirable Requirements
• BS, MS or PhD in mechanical engineering
• Experience with server rack cooling systems within data centers

Compensation

Dell is committed to fair and equitable compensation practices. The salary range for this position is $167k - $217k.
