Telemetry Registered Nurse - Hopewell, Virginia
An opportunity exists for a Stepdown Registered Nurse with telemetry expertise at a respected medical center in Hopewell, VA. This contract position calls for experienced travel nurses residing at least 50 miles from the facility. The role requires a strong background in acute care nursing with a focus on telemetry patients, ensuring high-quality care for individuals with complex cardiovascular and neurological conditions.
Qualifications & Desired Experience:
• Current RN license in compact state or state of practice
• Minimum 1 year of recent acute care nursing experience
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience preferred
• Telemetry experience required; EPIC electronic health record experience preferred
• Required certifications: NIH Stroke Scale (NIHSS), ACLS, BLS
• Proficient in rhythm analysis (dysrhythmia exam required; study guide provided)
• Ability to manage care for patients with multi-system organ failure, post-stroke, Afib, CHF exacerbations
• Comfortable managing drips including Amiodarone, Cardizem, Nitro, and Heparin (non-titratable)
• Strong clinical judgment, communication skills, and patient advocacy abilities
Responsibilities:
• Perform comprehensive patient assessments; create and implement care plans
• Administer medications safely and monitor treatment effectiveness
• Serve as liaison for care coordination among interdisciplinary teams and families
• Employ principles of evidence-based practice and patient safety
• May float to other Med/Surg units based on staffing needs
• Work 12-hour night shifts, every other weekend and major holidays
• Maintain ratios typically 1:4-5; wear designated scrubs in navy blue and/or white
