Job Brief:
We are looking for candidates that are experienced in CAD/GIS systems, and Adobe Acrobat (pdf). Would prefer candidates local to the greater Fort Wayne, Indiana area. Remote workers will be considered.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
We are looking for candidates that are experienced in CAD/GIS systems
, and Adobe Acrobat (pdf). The individual in this position is responsible for producing Outside Plant (OSP) GIS designs and associated work package documents in coordination with other engineering department personnel.
Qualified individuals should be experienced in reading and understanding utility or telecommunications cable systems and associated OSP documents. While having great drawing quality, speed, and quality control, candidates must meet and follow company and business unit directives and practices.
Would prefer candidates local to the greater Fort Wayne, Indiana area. Will be a hybrid position, in office time will be to the local Fort Wayne office located at 5117 N Bend Drive, Fort Wayne, IN 46804. Remote candidates will be considered.
Qualifications
A successful candidate must meet most of the knowledge, skills, competencies, and experience requirements outlined below:
• General Computer Skills – Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite of applications (Outlook, Excel, Word, Visio), Google Earth and Adobe Pro
• Ability to read and interpret underground and aerial telecom facilities records on maps and fielding notes – desired
• Experience with GIS based design platforms
• Ability to convey GIS/spatial information to non-GIS/technical people
• Analytical Skills - The ability to solve problems using the GIS suite of tools
• Research various websites for GIS data applicable to each project
• Ability to pay close attention to detail and make sound decisions using information at hand
• Strong Verbal and Written communication skills
• Understanding of communications engineering and related systems is desired
• Previous experience working in telecom computer aided design (FROGS) is highly desired
• Previous experience working in other telecom computer aided design 3
GIS, AutoCAD, Micro Station, and/or other telecom CAD applications/systems is desired
• Skilled in multi-tasking in a fast-paced environment with strong attention to detail
• Basic mathematical skills and calculation skills are required
• Understand routing of utilities and placement techniques
• Use mature judgment in all aspects of the job
• Excellent analytical skills and ability to problem solve
Education
• High school diploma or equivalent (e.g., GED) required OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant work experience that demonstrates the ability to successfully perform the essential duties of the position
• Associates degree or Certificate in AutoCAD or Micro Station or equivalent experience or Associates degree or ESRI Technical Certification or equivalent experience is desired.
Physical Requirements
• Alternate sitting and standing at will (sit/stand desk).
• Substantial movements (motions) of the wrists, hands, and/or fingers.
• Requires viewing a computer screen for long periods of time.
