Job Description
Client is seeking an organized, detail-oriented person to join our team as a Technical Writer/Trainer. Don't worry-you really won't touch a tax, but you will learn about them and communicate about them! What you will do is make a big impact by providing professional support to the branch in implementing and maintaining various training and communications programs, projects, materials, and activities for both internal staff and external audiences/platforms. This is an opportunity to contribute positively to a cohesive, creative and collaborative team. Problem-solving, communicating, and assisting with various complex programs are all part of your responsibilities. If you are curious, like learning about new things, and like helping people, then you will fit in with our small, but mighty team.
Candidates must work well with others or independently. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher.
• Good communication skills, both oral and written. Prefer strong grammar and proofreading skills.
• Be a focal part of the correspondence team that is re-writing, editing, proofing, testing, etc. for all outbound correspondence that will be automatically generated through the new integrated tax system. Use of plain language principles for clarity.
• Work with taxing areas to understand legacy processes for new training/communications initiatives.
• Ability to digest complex information and assist with developing training and communications materials that use plain language principles for clarity.
• Willingness to conduct trainings, individually or with a team, or learn how to be a trainer for subjects.
• Develop content for how-to videos and written guides for external users of the new integrated portal for filing and managing taxes.
• Assist with developing surveys to measure effectiveness of such programs as training, social media outreach efforts, etc.
• Assist with developing, monitoring content and posts on Client websites and social media channels.
• Ability to design, edit, maintain websites is desirable.
• Knowledge of programs such as Articulate 360 for developing training courses is desirable.
