The Opportunity


As our Technical Platform Lead, you’ll play a critical role in shaping the strategic direction, governance, and operational performance of one of Medibank’s core technology platforms. You will ensure the platform remains secure, reliable, scalable, and fully optimised to deliver maximum value across the organisation.


In this role, you'll lead internal development and support teams, champion modern engineering practices, and work closely with business stakeholders to translate organisational goals into actionable technical solutions. You’ll also be the key connection point for third-party vendors, ensuring integrations meet the highest standards of performance, security, and compliance



Key Responsibilities



Lead the end-to-end ownership, development, and support of the platform, ensuring reliability, scalability, and alignment with organisational goals
Work collaboratively with hub and squad leaders, architects, product teams, and digital teams to maintain consistent design principles and integration standards
Guide technology teams to deliver high quality solutions and uplift engineering practices across the platform
Translate business needs into robust technical solutions, advising on technology decisions and coordinating third-party vendors to ensure cohesive delivery
Oversee design, build, deployment and ongoing support activities while contributing to platform roadmaps that prioritise customer and business outcomes
Balance integration of external solutions with inhouse capabilities, supporting pragmatic architectural decisions and fostering continuous improvement
Manage platform related budgets in partnership with finance and actively support Agile ways of working across teams
Ensure governance, risk, data management and security standards are in place and adhered to, escalating issues where required






Must Haves



Minimum 10 years’ experience in technology ownership roles within complex enterprise environments.
Demonstrated success leading multidisciplinary tech teams and driving high quality delivery of large scale, digital-first platforms.
Strong ability to navigate complexity, resolve critical roadblocks, and deliver outcomes within time and budget.
Extensive experience managing and integrating third-party SaaS vendors.
Strong background in healthcare sector technology (highly advantageous).
Outstanding communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
Proven ability to build and execute technical roadmaps.
Strong knowledge of SDLC methodologies including Agile, Scrum, Lean and Kanban.
Preferred tertiary qualification in Technology or IT system management
