Technical Lead - Embedded Systems Security (Certification Assurance)

Remote Full-time
Description
• Census Labs is seeking a highly skilled and ambitious Technical Lead specializing in Embedded Systems Security, with a strong focus on Certification and Assurance, to join our elite cybersecurity engineering team in Abu Dhabi.
• As a Technical Lead, you will be instrumental in providing technical leadership and strategic guidance on complex projects involving cutting-edge embedded technologies. Your role will extend beyond technical execution, encompassing the management and mentorship of a team of security engineers and consultants, ensuring the smooth and effective progression of project technical activities.
• You will be at the forefront of researching, analyzing, and resolving intricate technical challenges, driving innovation and delivering top-tier cybersecurity services to our esteemed clientele.
• This position offers a unique opportunity to leverage your deep expertise in embedded systems security to guide clients in developing efficient strategies, architectures, implementations, and integrations that meet their most demanding cybersecurity objectives.
• You will collaborate closely with client development and security teams, as well as other partners, on long-term projects that require a comprehensive understanding of the entire system stack, from application layers and middleware down to drivers, kernel, firmware, and Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs).
• A core aspect of your role will involve leading security compliance preparation activities. This includes conducting thorough gap analyses, developing robust remediation plans, and overseeing validation procedures to ensure adherence to relevant security standards and regulations.
• You will navigate the full system stack, identifying and implementing targeted security modifications that align with project-specific security requirements. This hands-on approach ensures that security is embedded at every level of the system.
• A critical responsibility will be the review, documentation, and refinement of cryptographic implementations. You will ensure these implementations meet stringent security standards, safeguarding sensitive data and system integrity.
• You will coordinate and manage testing and validation activities, providing clear evidence of compliance with specified security criteria. This involves meticulous planning and execution to demonstrate the effectiveness of security measures.
• A significant part of your contribution will be compiling and organizing comprehensive technical security documentation. This includes detailed architecture descriptions, security assessment reports, and crucial assurance evidence required for certification and audits.
• You will act as a key interface with external auditors and assessors, clarifying technical requirements, explaining implemented security controls, and responding effectively to any findings or recommendations.
• You will provide direct guidance and technical mentorship to a small team of engineers, overseeing their technical implementation tasks and ensuring they meet documentation and quality standards.
• This role demands a proactive, research-driven mindset, consistent with Census Labs' identity as a cybersecurity engineering powerhouse that combines professionalism, a scientific approach, and a hacking demeanor.
• You will contribute to Census Labs' reputation for providing research-fueled, diverse professional services, helping clients secure their solutions from conception to release through a realistic, risk-based approach.
• Your work will span across various end-to-end systems, including but not limited to Secure Communications, IoT, Medical Devices, Mobile, and Vehicle Computer products, requiring adaptability and broad technical knowledge.
• We are looking for ambitious professionals eager to grow within our Cybersecurity Engineering team and contribute to our mission of delivering in-depth, high-quality cybersecurity services.
• This is an opportunity to shape the security posture of critical systems and contribute to the advancement of embedded systems security practices within a leading cybersecurity firm.

Requirements
• MSc or BSc in Electrical Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electronics Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
• 8+ years of experience in embedded, general- or special-purpose computer system-level software or firmware security.
• Proven experience of 2+ years in leading embedded system security projects.
• Prior involvement in security certification or compliance initiatives (e.g., Common Criteria, FIPS).
• Proficient in English and excellent communication skills.

️ Benefits
• Competitive salary and benefits package.
• Opportunity to work on cutting-edge cybersecurity projects with leading clients.
• Professional development and continuous learning opportunities.
