All work requirements are subject to change at any time based on leader discretion and/or business need. The Opportunity The Tax Analyst II will be a member of Ally's Tax team. The position will focus primarily on assisting with the day-to-day management of state income and franchise tax compliance, as well as the associated accounting and forecasting. The position will require interaction with the corporate accounting and finance groups, as well as other business groups within the company and will report directly to a Manager.At this time, Ally will not sponsor a new applicant for employment authorization for this position. The Work Itself Ensure timely and accurate filing of state income and franchise tax estimates and extensions including processing paymentsSupport the preparation and review of state and local income tax apportionment informationAssist with the preparation and review of state income and franchise tax returns and maintain relationship with service providerPreparation of state income and franchise tax forecasts including bank required stress testsPreparation of quarterly and annual U.S. state income tax provision, state blended income tax rate calculations, and state provision-to-return analysisMaintain schedules of federal and state tax differencesPreparation of tax account reconciliationsProvide support in the review, documentation and analysis of new state tax laws and regulationsAssist with the preparation of responses to various tax audits and with responses to notices regarding state tax issuesProvide analytical tax and accounting support to internal business partnersAssist in identification and implementation of process enhancementsAssist with other projects as necessary The Skills You Bring Bachelor’s degree required (accounting major preferred); MBA/MS in Accounting preferredMinimum of one year corporate state tax experience. Some public accounting experience is preferred but not required.Sound technical tax and/or accounting skills for area of expertiseAbility to organize data, conduct tax research, perform independent analysis, and provide explanations/conclusions to managementStrong computer skills, especially Excel including the use of advanced formulas (VLOOKUPs, PivotTables, etc.).
