J*_Part-Time Tax Accountant (Remote, U.S.)*_ Company: Pierre Accounting (Austin, Texas) Location: Remote (anywhere in the United States) Employment Type: 1099 Contractor, Part-Time Start Date: Immediate Compensation: $30-$45 hour-depending on experience Role • Prepare accurate, review-ready federal and state tax returns for individuals and businesses. Work is remote, deadline-driven, and documentation-heavy. Core work • Prepare federal and state income tax returns for individuals (Form 1040 and common schedules). • Prepare federal and state income tax returns for businesses (entity returns as required by client mix). • Handle specialized returns as client needs require (case-by-case). • Build clean workpapers: source document tie-outs, notes, and consistent file organization. • Identify missing or inconsistent information; produce concise client question lists. • Prepare extensions, amended returns, and estimated tax calculations when required. • Support IRS/state notices when assigned. • Follow strict confidentiality and secure data-handling practices. Required qualifications • Demonstrated proficiency preparing both individual and business tax returns. • Current, practical command of federal tax preparation fundamentals; state filing competence. • Ability to produce review-ready returns with minimal rework. • Strong attention to detail, documentation discipline, and deadline reliability. • Secure home office environment and dependable internet. Preferred qualifications • EA or CPA (or active path toward). • Multi-state return experience. • Experience with complex inputs (K-1s, depreciation, rentals, credits, allocations). • Comfort working inside standardized workflows, checklists, and naming conventions.
