Surgical Support Technician

Organization: ABSMC-Ashby Campus Position Overview: Under the supervision of a registered nurse, the Surgical Support Technician participates as a member of the perioperative team. The Support Technician performs direct and indirect perioperative tasks for patients having surgical and invasive procedures and assists anesthesia care providers. The staff member in this position must be able to participate in the provision of perioperative patient care for adolescent and adult patients. The Surgical Support Technician works 8 hour shifts as assigned by the Assistant Director of Surgery. Weekend shifts may be assigned as necessary. Job Description: EDUCATION Equivalent experience will be accepted in lieu of the required degree or diploma. HS Diploma or equivalent education/experience CERTIFICATION & LICENSURE BLS-Basic Life Support Healthcare Provider OR CMA-Certified Medical Assistant OR CNA-Certified Nurse Assistant PREFERRED EXPERIENCE AS TYPICALLY ACQUIRED IN: 6 mos-2 years Recent experience in medical field required, medical office, ambulatory surgery or acute care operating room experience. SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, oral and written, in the English language. Working knowledge of principles of aseptic technique. Ability to work efficiently, accurately, cooperatively, and react rapidly to changing situations. Able to manage multiple activities and prioritize appropriately. Pay Range is $29.15 to $35.50 / hour The salary range for this role may vary above or below the posted range as determined by location. This range has not been adjusted for any specific geographic differential applicable by area where the position may be filled.
