Summer Internship - Remote Video Monitoring of Steller Sea Lions
About the position
The Remote Video Monitoring of Steller Sea Lions Internship offers an opportunity for individuals interested in animal-related scientific research to assist with remote monitoring research activities involving Steller sea lions. Interns will be trained to operate video monitoring equipment and contribute to data collection and analysis under the guidance of experienced project staff.
Responsibilities
Ā Operate remotely controlled cameras from a desktop computer in an office setting.

Ā Assist with sea lion counts, behavioral observations, video recording, and data entry.

Ā Contribute to the evolution and methodology of research data collection methods.
,
Ā Be prompt with daily duties and follow a regimented schedule of observations.

Ā Assist with observations and video systems maintenance in the field.

Ā Perform other duties relating to the Center's goals and mission statement as required.
Requirements
Ā Working towards or possesses an undergraduate degree in a science related field.

Ā Ability to work independently with excellent organizational and time management skills.
,
Ā Proficient computer skills including basic Microsoft applications, specifically Excel.
Nice-to-haves
Ā Experience with animal photo identification and behavioral study.

Ā Familiarity with MS Excel & Access, and video recording equipment.
,
Ā Experience working on small vessels.
