6 Week Summer Extern Program

The summer Extern program was just what I needed to gain experience and boost my confidence going into this career. I appreciated the time each nurse took with me to help me learn processes and grow in my abilities. This was a very positive experience and I would 100% recommend it to future nurses.

Overview:
During your six-week externship, you will have the opportunity to experience working with a preceptor. You may also choose to shadow in additional departments. Discover where your passion for nursing is leading you at Mercy!
Qualifications:
Education: Completed one year of RN clinicals at an accredited School of Nursing with anticipated December 2025 to May of 2026 graduation
Certifications: BLS Certification required before assigned to care for patients independently
Additional Documents Required:
In addition to the online application the following documents must be emailed to [email protected]:
- Electronic Transcript
- Skills Checklist signed by Clinical Instructor
- Personal Statement. Should include answers to the following questions:
Why did you choose nursing as a profession?
What unit are you most interested in and/or tell us about the best clinical experience you've had so far and why (do not share the name of the facility)?
What is your ideal work environment?
Application and Supporting Documents must be submitted by Monday, Feb 24th, 2025 in ONE EMAIL - please send documents only, no photos of documents will be accepted. Multiple emails and profiles without uploaded resume will be considered incomplete.
Program will begin May 27th and end on July 5th, 2025 (with opportunity to stay in a Nurse Tech role after the completion of the extern program)
