The Student Services Section in the Bureau of Teaching and Learning is seeking applicants for an Education Consultant position. In this position, the incumbent will provide leadership in administering wellbeing programs, shaping school safety and prevention initiatives, advancing student mental health systems, and informing data-driven prevention work. This position provides ample opportunities for cross-agency collaboration, working with partners such as Department of Transportation, Department of Justice, Department of Health Services, Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESAs), universities, mental health agencies, and national organizations. Position Summary

This position will provide statewide leadership and expertise related to state and federal grant program management, AODA, Driver Education, Traffic and School Safety, bullying, suicide prevention, as well as other grant programs and initiatives. This position also supports coordination and delivery of training efforts specifically related to creating Comprehensive School Mental Health Systems (CSMHS), using the Wisconsin School Mental Health Framework and the Roadmap for School Mental Health Improvement.

Some of the areas of responsibility include project management, technical assistance, and consultation activities related to state and federal grant programs. The consultant would be responsible for providing assistance and overseeing Driver's Education and school/traffic safety. The consultant would also support other Student Services consultants with programs such as AODA, mental health, and Suicide Prevention. The consultant will provide assistance to Local Educational Agencies (LEA), Cooperative Educational Service Agencies (CESAs), non-government organizations, government organizations, and other state partners through technical assistance and development/sharing of resources. . Responsibilities also include serving as the assigned DPI liaison and leading activities with national, state, regional, and local agencies, external partners, and institutions of higher education.

Salary Information

Depending on qualifications, the salary will be between $35.00-$48.50 per hour (approximately $72,800 - $100,880 per year). For current and eligible former State employees, compensation will be set in accordance with the State Compensation Plan effective at time of hire. This position is in pay schedule 13, range 02. A one-year probationary period will be required.

Job Details

Remote Work : This position allows for up to 100% remote work within the State of Wisconsin, with the expectation that the employee maintains secure, high-speed internet access. Remote work from neighboring states may be approved only in very rare and limited circumstances. Please note that remote work arrangements may be rescinded at any time based on business needs, and employees may occasionally be required to report to a Wisconsin work location on short notice. Full-time work hours will take place between the hours of 6am-6pm Monday-Friday (8 hours/day).

Travel : This position includes occasional in-state travel (i.e., about once per month).

Headquarters : The position is headquartered at 201 W. Washington Ave. in Madison, WI, and employees are required to report there on their first day of employment. In addition, the employee may need to report to their headquarter location as operational needs require. Reimbursement for traveling to or from the employee's headquarters is not provided (e.g., mileage, meals, parking, lodging, etc.).

Pre-hire requirements : A criminal background check will be conducted prior to an offer of hire. A TB screen will be required prior to start.

Legal authorization : Applicants must be legally entitled to work in the United States (i.e., a citizen or national of the U.S., without DPI sponsorship). The Department of Public Instruction does not sponsor visas, either at time of hire or at any later time.

Qualifications

A minimally qualified applicant must have experience with all the below:
• Providing leadership, technical assistance, consultation, or collaborative support for a prevention and safety program in K-12 schools, districts, educational agencies, or related organizations (e.g., Department of Health Services, Department of Justice, etc.);
• Performing multiple grant administration activities (e.g., writing for state and federal grants, application review, program implementation, compliance monitoring, reporting, evaluation, or similar);
• Working with programs related to multiple of the following topics: driver's education, student wellness, mental health, substance use prevention (AODA), bullying prevention, suicide prevention, traffic/school safety, or similar student support initiatives;
• Collecting, analyzing, or using data to monitor a program, to evaluate an outcome, or to support continuous improvement efforts.
Please note that a college degree is not required for this position.

Well-qualified applicants will also have experience:
• Supporting or administering a driver's education or traffic safety initiative within a school or community-based organization;
• Developing and delivering technical assistance to a school, agency, or community partner;
• Serving on governmental traffic/safety committees;
• Partnering with an education agency, state or local government, CESA, higher education institution, or community organization to implement a program or initiative.
