Key Responsibilities As a Student Development Specialist IV, you will play a vital role in supporting the academic and personal development of our students. Your responsibilities will include: Planning, organizing, implementing, and evaluating major Student Affairs programs and events, such as orientation, white coat ceremony, awards ceremony, and commencement. Securing venues and vendors, managing contract negotiations for large events, and overseeing the budget and expenditures for major programs and events. Advising students on student-sponsored activities and providing individual and group advising, making referrals to resource providers as needed. Serving as a liaison between students, faculty, and administration, and fostering collaborative relationships to support student success. Interpreting and communicating student-related university and school policies and procedures to meet university and school requirements and guidelines. Leading efforts focusing on leadership development, problem-solving, program/activity planning, facilitation, and assessment. Supervising a Program Coordinator I, including hiring, training, facilitating meetings, preparing performance evaluations, and providing developmental feedback. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you will need: A Master's degree in student affairs, counseling, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience. At least five years of experience in student affairs or a related specialty area. Excellent oral and written communication skills, with the ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others. Preferred Qualifications While not required, the following qualifications are highly desirable: Experience in higher education or a professional school setting within student affairs or a related specialty area. Event management and outreach experience. Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programming and activities. Demonstrated professional maturity, leadership, and decision-making abilities. CPR certification.
