The CEC's work is crucial in the state's quest for carbon neutrality by mid-century, and we're seeking a dedicated Student Assistant to join our team in supporting the Reliability, Renewable Energy and Decarbonization Incentive (RREDI) Division. About the Role As a Student Assistant - Decarbonization Programs, you will play a vital role in assisting RREDI Division staff with a variety of tasks related to residential building decarbonization programs. This is a unique opportunity to contribute to the development of clean energy initiatives and gain valuable experience in a dynamic and fast-paced environment. The position is remote, offering flexibility and the chance to work on projects that directly impact the future of energy in California. Key Responsibilities Respond to consumer email inquiries and track responses. Conduct initial reviews of submitted information for various programs. Enter data into program databases, ensuring accuracy and efficiency. Validate application information to support program integrity. Engage in applicant correspondence, providing clear and timely communication. Participate in special projects as assigned, contributing to the success of the RREDI Division. Prerequisites and Eligibility To be eligible for this position, you must be a college student attending classes during the regular term (Fall, Spring, and Winter, if applicable) at one of the accredited colleges or universities on our affiliation list . You must be enrolled in at least six-semester units or nine quarter units for undergraduate students, or four-semester units or six quarter units for graduate students. Your declared major must match one of the following fields of study: Business Administration Economics Engineering Environmental Studies Finance Government Mathematics and Statistics Management Information Systems Social Science Sociology Anthropology Urban Land Development Ecological Management and Restoration International Relations/Affairs Climate Science Minimum Qualifications To succeed in this role, you must possess: A cumulative GPA of 2.0 or above. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. Good interpersonal, organizational, and written and verbal communication skills. The ability to reason logically and creatively. Strong attention to detail. Experience collecting and organizing quantitative and qualitative data, ensuring accuracy, clarity, and conciseness. Preferred Qualifications While not required, having an understanding of data analysis and visualization tools like Tableau or Power Business Intelligence (BI) is considered a bonus. Additionally, individuals who are, or have been, a dependent child in foster care, a homeless youth, or a formerly incarcerated youth as defined by Government Code section 18220 are encouraged to apply and will be given priority. Work Schedule and Environment This is a part-time, temporary, non-benefited student position with flexible workdays and work hours, Monday through Friday, between 8 AM and 5 PM. The final work schedule will be determined by your supervisor. As a remote position, you will be required to work according to the current UEI remote workplace policy and sign a UEI telework agreement.
