Remote Full-time
Your leadership opportunity has been waiting on you—not the other way around. You’re a seasoned structural engineer with sharp code knowledge, project experience, and a reputation for solving tough challenges. But in your current role, you’re boxed in—waiting on someone above you to retire or shift before you can step up. It’s time to stop waiting and start leading. At Beryl Engineering & Inspection, we’re offering you the chance to head up a talented structural design team, guide cross-functional workflows, and play a critical role in shaping the built environment across Florida’s Gulf Coast. No red tape. No hierarchy gridlock. Just real impact, from day one. About Our Design Team Beryl Project Engineering’s design division—based in Tampa since 2012—delivers full-spectrum structural engineering for residential and commercial new construction, remodels, and specialized structural projects across Florida’s Gulf Coast. Our licensed engineers and drafters collaborate closely with contractors, architects, and homeowners to design solutions that are technically sound, code-compliant, and build-ready. Services include: • New Construction Design Plans: including foundations, framing systems, roof layouts, and structural detailing. • Residential Remodel & Renovation: covering additions, wall removals, attic upgrades, and full-home transformations. • Specialty Structural Design: rafter systems, foundations, retaining walls, pool structures, and solar panel support. • Tall Building and Commercial Design: including structural systems for high-rise condominium buildings and steel commercial construction. • Construction Partnerships: seamless coordination with builders, roofers, and other contractors to support permitting and execution. We pride ourselves on clear communication, efficient workflows, and a builder-first mindset. If you thrive on leading technical teams and delivering practical, creative solutions—you’ll fit right in. What You’ll Do • Lead and mentor a team of engineers-in-training and junior staff, helping them grow in structural expertise and confidence. • Oversee residential and commercial structural design projects—from concepts and code interpretation to plan sets and client support. • Review and approve third-party plans for building departments, ensuring compliance with Florida Building Code. • Collaborate with design assistants, drafters, inspectors, and project leads to keep work flowing and deadlines met. • Represent Beryl in permitting conversations, client meetings, and internal discussions as a technical authority and team-builder. • Help evolve team systems, training plans, and technical quality—bringing structure to our structures. Who You Are • 7–10+ years of structural engineering experience (residential and/or commercial) • Skilled in structural design and knowledgeable in the Florida Building Code • Comfortable leading others and communicating with clients, contractors, and officials • Experienced (or ready to learn) in plan review for municipalities or third-party permitting • Tech-comfortable and curious—especially with project tracking tools • A Florida PE license (required) • Proven experience in residential elevation projects—such as FEMA’s Flood Mitigation Assistance or Florida’s Elevate Florida programs—to raise homes above flood levels and enhance community resilience • Residential design portfolio in Florida What You’ll Get • Clear leadership opportunity—no seniority gridlock • Meaningful projects across structural design, renovation, and third-party plan review • Hybrid flexibility and local office support • Competitive salary, health/dental/vision, PTO, 401(k) match, and professional development • A purpose-driven culture where leadership is shared and appreciated How to Apply Submit your resume to [email protected] and a brief introduction.
