Job Title: Glovebox & Structural Design Engineer ā DOE Nuclear
Location: REMOTE WORK
Summary:
ā¢ Fully remote position supporting glovebox and structural design on DOE nuclear projects
ā¢ Work may span national laboratory programs, nuclear materials handling, and full design lifecycle from concept through installation
ā¢ Pay rate is open and negotiated based on experience ā we prioritize finding the right person
ā¢ U.S. citizenship required for DOE clearance eligibility
Required Qualifications:
Education & Experience
ā¢ B.S. or M.S. in mechanical or structural engineering (or related field)
ā¢ Experience designing gloveboxes or nuclear material handling enclosures
ā¢ Familiarity with DOE Order 420.1, 10 CFR 830, or similar nuclear safety standards
Technical Skills
ā¢ Structural analysis via hand calculations and/or FEA (ANSYS, ABAQUS, SAP2000)
ā¢ 3D CAD proficiency ā SolidWorks, CATIA, or Inventor preferred
ā¢ Seismic qualification per DOE-STD-1020 or equivalent
ā¢ Ability to produce design calculations, drawings, and documentation packages
Clearance
ā¢ Ability to obtain or hold a DOE Q or L security clearance
Preferred:
ā¢ PE license or active progress toward licensure
ā¢ Prior work at a DOE site ā LANL, LLNL, SRS, INL, NNSS, or similar
ā¢ Nuclear criticality safety knowledge
ā¢ Confinement ventilation and HEPA filtration familiarity
ā¢ ASME B&PV Code, AISC, or AWS welding standards in nuclear environments
