We are seeking a dedicated and enthusiastic Elementary Teacher - Grade 4 to join our team at Norwalk Public Schools for the 2023-2024 school year. This is a hybrid role, offering the flexibility to balance your time between our Remote office and home.



Job Summary:

As an Elementary Teacher - Grade 4, you will play a vital role in shaping the educational experiences of our students. Your responsibilities will include:


Instructing students in a specific area of specialty, promoting subject matter and skill development.
Creating a classroom environment conducive to learning, setting clear expectations and routines.
Managing classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an optimal learning environment.
Preparing lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, using appropriate techniques to serve the needs of all learners.
Demonstrating strong content knowledge and maintaining accurate records.
Conducting parent/teacher conferences and maintaining ongoing communication with parents.
Assessing student learning, identifying areas of intervention, and designing instruction to meet the needs of all students.


Responsibilities:


Follows the scope and sequence of the instructional program as defined and approved by the Norwalk Board of Education.
Sets and reinforces clear expectations and routines.
Manages the classroom and individual student behavior to maintain an advantageous learning environment.
Prepares lesson plans that achieve clear objectives, uses appropriate techniques, and serves the needs of all learners in the classroom.
Demonstrates strong content knowledge.
Maintains accurate and complete records as required.
Conducts parent/teacher conferences.
Assesses student learning on a continual basis and identifies areas of intervention if needed.


Requirements:


Active 305 CDE Certification as required by the Connecticut State Department of Education.
Bachelor's Degree in Education.
Experience working with students in a diverse school setting.
Experience with team teaching in a multicultural environment.
Ability to communicate ideas and directives clearly and effectively, both orally and in writing.
Effective, active listening skills.
Organizational and problem-solving skills.
