We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate individual to fill the role of Behavioral Student Advocate at Lindale Middle School. As a key member of our school community, you will play a critical role in maintaining a safe and orderly environment, supporting students, teachers, and administrators, and promoting positive student behavior.
Job Summary
The Behavioral Student Advocate will perform school-based duties to support the goal of maintaining a safe and orderly environment. This includes assisting the administration, guidance, and teaching staff with student-teacher and student-student conflicts, monitoring student activities, and intervening as needed to deescalate student disruptions.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
Monitor areas outside classrooms, including hallways, bathrooms, cafeteria, parking lots, and outside areas
Assist teachers and administration in maintaining traffic flow in the building
Participate in behavior modification activities and peer mediations
Communicate with student families through conferences and phone calls
Monitor improvements in student performance and provide positive feedback
Support students in adhering to the Code of Student Conduct
Escort students to and from classrooms as needed
Assist administration in gathering information for investigations
Participate in planning activities with other staff
Requirements
High School Diploma or Equivalency Certificate required
Ability to develop rapport with young people and deescalate aggressive behaviors
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to exercise patience, courtesy, and good judgment when working with students, teachers, administrators, and parents
Demonstrated proficiency with business technology applications
