STEM PhDs Hourly Contract | Remote | Part-Time $55 –$70 per hour About the Role Mercor is collaborating with a leading global AI research lab to engage STEM PhD experts for a high-impact research initiative. In this role, you will apply your advanced academic expertise to help train and refine next-generation AI systems. You’ll design high-quality, domain-specific problems and analyses that improve the reasoning, accuracy, and depth of large language models (LLMs) across multiple STEM disciplines. This is a unique opportunity to shape how cutting-edge AI models understand and replicate real-world problem-solving in scientific and engineering contexts. Ideal Candidates You’re an excellent fit if you: • Hold a PhD in a STEM field such as Engineering (Mechanical, Chemical, Electrical), Biology, Chemistry, or Physics. • Completed your undergraduate studies in the U.S., U.K., Canada, Europe, or India. • Have a deep understanding of your field and enjoy tackling complex, research-grade problems. • Possess strong written and verbal communication skills in English. • Demonstrate exceptional attention to detail and analytical rigor. Key Responsibilities • Create high-quality, domain-specific problems and solutions in your field. • Collaborate with AI researchers via a private Slack workspace to refine content quality. • Review and evaluate AI-generated responses for reasoning and accuracy. • Help develop data that strengthens the logic and precision of AI models. Project Details • Start Date: Immediate (rolling applications accepted) • Duration: 1–2 months (with potential extension) • Commitment: 10–20 hours/week (flexible up to 40 hours/week) • Schedule: Fully remote and asynchronous — work at your convenience.
