Then keep reading - you’ve come to the right place.Role DescriptionWe’re hiring a Staff Mechanical Engineer for our Electrode Engineering team, as a lead mechanical designer for Form Energy’s iron anode. The Electrode Engineering team is focused on delivering qualified battery anode and cathode designs that meet operational performance targets, at cost and with high reliability, from controlled processes on high-volume manufacturing lines for Form Energy's utility-scale multi-day energy storage system.As a Staff Mechanical Engineer, you’ll play a crucial role in designing components and assemblies for our cells, from concept to production, with a strong emphasis on design for manufacturing and assembly. As a problem solver, you'll creatively tackle mechanical design challenges and apply your knowledge of designing metal components and assemblies for mass manufacturing. You'll work cross-functionally with teams on requirements definition and verification plans to deliver a design that meets those requirements. Comfortable working in a prototype shop environment, you'll communicate with manufacturers to deliver an optimized, production-ready design. If this sounds like the perfect opportunity for you, apply now!This is an exciting opportunity to be part of scaling our multi-day energy storage system at Form and contributing to a sustainable future.What you'll do:Lead the design of a full electrode assembly integral to the battery cell electrodes and electrode stack assemblyDevelop functional requirements in close collaboration with members of the Cell Engineering, Electrode Engineering, and Systems Engineering teamsPerform hands-on prototyping of designs and collaborate with broader teams to build integrated prototypesRelease designs consistent with company and team best practices (drawings, tolerance analysis, etc)Demonstrate design functionality through analysis (e.g. FEA) and component- or system-level testingWork with vendors, manufacturing engineers, and technical operations to transition designs from the prototype stage to high volume productionDrive verification testing of your design workMentor or manage other engineers working on components of the electrode assemblyWhat you'll bring:Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related field; Bachelor's with 10+ years, or Master's with 8+ years industry experience in mechanical designProficiency in computer-aided design (CAD), specifically SolidWorks modeling and draftingProficient in component design for mass manufacturing and assembly (DFMA), especially sheet metal components and weldmentsProficient with prototyping techniques and working in a machine shop environmentFamiliarity with mechanical verification testingExperience as a design lead or program lead on a team of Mechanical EngineersExperience working with batteries, energy storage, fuel cells, or electrolyzers is a plus#LI-Onsite#LI-AB1Humanity is a cornerstone of Form Energy’s culture, and we make sure our compensation and benefits reflect that.
