Join arenaflex as a Staff Data Engineer – Fleet Analytics & Vehicle Intelligence

Are you ready to be part of a transformative journey where data powers the future of sustainable technology? At arenaflex, we're not just building vehicles – we're revolutionizing how the world thinks about transportation, energy, and intelligent systems. Our Fleet Analytics team sits at the heart of this mission, transforming petabytes of real-time data from our global fleet into actionable insights that shape next-generation products and keep our customers safer than ever before.

We're looking for an experienced Staff Data Engineer to join our Fleet Analytics group in Kentucky. This is a unique opportunity to work at the intersection of big data engineering, machine learning, and automotive innovation. If you're passionate about leveraging data to solve complex problems, building scalable systems, and making a tangible impact on the future of sustainable technology, we want to hear from you.

About the Fleet Analytics Team

Data is deeply embedded in the product and engineering culture at arenaflex. We depend on vast quantities of information to enhance autonomous driving capabilities, optimize hardware designs, proactively discover potential faults, and balance load on the electric grid. Our team accumulates and processes data from every vehicle, charging station, and energy storage device in our global fleet – making our products better and our customers safer with each mile driven.

As the central data enablement team within arenaflex, Fleet Analytics serves as a critical bridge that empowers hundreds of engineers across multiple disciplines to leverage the wealth of information we collect. We provide direct analytical support to engineering teams while simultaneously building self-service platforms and tools that enable engineers to conduct their own analyses. Our work has an immediate, measurable impact on arenaflex's product development and supports the efforts of hundreds of engineers throughout the organization.

To accomplish our mission, we've built a cutting-edge internal data platform leveraging cloud infrastructure powered by AWS, S3, Spark, and Trino. We utilize open-source data science tools including Jupyter notebooks, Pandas, Bokeh, Superset, and Airflow to deliver insights at scale. Join us, and you'll be working with state-of-the-art technology while contributing to meaningful work that shapes the future of sustainable transportation.

What You'll Do

As a Staff Data Engineer at arenaflex, you'll play a pivotal role in developing applications that leverage our extensive fleet data. Your work will span the full breadth of data engineering, analysis, and data science activities, taking a first-principles approach to problem-solving that informs future hardware and firmware designs while ensuring our existing vehicles, chargers, and energy products continue to perform at the highest standards.

Collaborate with stakeholders to develop and maintain complex software systems that elevate the use of vehicle data across the organization
Provide technical guidance to arenaflex's data engineering and data science community regarding best practices, architecture decisions, and implementation strategies
Drive adoption of our platforms and tools by working closely with engineers across disciplines to understand their needs and demonstrate value
Write reproducible data analysis across petabytes of data using modern open-source technologies and cloud-based processing frameworks
Summarize and communicate data analysis assumptions, methodologies, and results to both technical and non-technical stakeholders
Build robust data pipelines to optimize the performance and accuracy of analytical work across the entire company
Design and implement metrics, dashboards, and self-service tools that empower engineers to derive their own data insights without dependency bottlenecks
Write clean, tested, and maintainable code that can be extended by other software engineers across the organization
Occasionally partner with specialized teams in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or firmware engineering to define product requirements, optimize control algorithms, and improve overall product quality
Bring applications from concept to production in collaboration with other Fleet Analytics team members while providing ongoing maintenance and user support
