Ā We are looking for a Staff Client Engineer to help shape and define the next iteration of the tools and infrastructure that manages our macOS, Chrome OS, Windows and Mobile endpoints. We focus on automation, running at a global scale and most importantly, being a host to our end users. Our tools enable Airbnb employees to do amazing things, whilst keeping... the company's, our Hosts and Guests information secure.

Ā We are looking for a Client Engineer to help shape and define the next iteration of the tools and infrastructure that manages our macOS, Chrome OS, Windows and Mobile endpoints. We focus on automation, running at a global scale and most importantly, being a host to our end users. Our tools enable Airbnb employees to do amazing things, whilst keeping the company's, our Hosts and Guests information secure.

A Typical Day:
Ā Work with and contribute back to open source projects. Some of the projects we use and contribute back to are:
Ā Crypt
Ā MicroMDM
Ā osquery
Ā MDMDirector
Ā Sal
Ā Munki
Ā Puppet
Ā Autopkg
Ā Work on projects such as:
Ā Stateful MDM orchestration.
Ā Beyondcorp and Zero Trust initiatives.
Ā CI/CD for client engineering tools and processes
Ā Help drive the endpoint security model working closely with security engineering teams, and establish best practices in an enterprise environment.
Ā Respond to and participate in resolution of endpoint security compromises, malware, and vulnerabilities.
Ā Act as consultants and SMEs to other engineering teams at Airbnb for the platforms we own and support.
Ā Participate in a paid on call rotation.
Your Expertise:
Ā 10+ years of experience in Client Platform Engineering, Systems Engineering, or similar roles
Ā Know one or more general purpose programming languages including but not limited to: Swift, Ruby, Python, Go.
Ā Experience of managing macOS at scale
Ā Bonus points if it's with open source tools (e.g Munki or Puppet / Chef)
Ā Have a security first mindset, with knowledge of security principles such as Zero Trust
Ā Passion for endpoint management using DevOps methodologies.
Ā You may have experience of:
Ā Managing Windows using open source tools (e.g Gorilla / Chocolatey or Puppet / Chef)
Ā Using Google's API to manage Chrome OS
Ā Open source MDM, such as MicroMDM or NanoMDM
Ā Bonus points if you have knowledge of the Apple MDM protocol
Ā Deploying infrastructure in cloud providers such as Amazon Web Services and Google Cloud Platform
Your Location:
This position is US - Remote Eligible. The role may include occasional work at an Airbnb office or attendance at offsites, as agreed to with your manager. Our job titles may span more than one career level. The actual base pay is dependent upon many factors, such as: training, transferable skills, work experience, business needs and market demands. The base pay range is subject to change and may be modified in the future. This role may also be eligible for bonus, equity, benefits, and Employee Travel Credits.

$180,000 - $236,000 USD
