About the position The Staff Attorney position in the Environment, Natural Resources, and Agriculture Division involves providing legal services to various state departments, focusing on environmental, natural resources, and agriculture laws. The attorney will work under supervision, handling legal advice and representation in administrative proceedings and courts, primarily dealing with state and federal laws related to these areas. Responsibilities • Provide legal services to the Departments of Environment, Great Lakes, and Energy; Natural Resources; and Agriculture and Rural Development. • Offer day-to-day legal advice to state agencies, boards, commissions, and officers. • Represent the state in administrative proceedings and courts. • Handle assignments of limited factual and legal complexity with substantial supervision. • Work on matters involving American Indian law and the Land Division Act. Requirements • Possession of a Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited school of law. • Membership in good standing in the Michigan State Bar. • For Attorney-Senior 16, four years of post-bar admission legal experience.
