The Sustainable Selection team drives sustainability improvements to the products Amazon sells. We aim to uphold a high bar for product sustainability, enabling partner teams to demonstrate credibility and earn customer trust.

The Sustainable Selection team is looking for a Senior Sustainability Specialist to support ongoing projects within the team, including assessing and/or building robust sustainability certifications, and providing subject matter expertise relevant to sustainable shopping initiatives.

The ideal candidate should have strong experience in sustainability and/or environmental science; a strong aptitude with data and research; and, a demonstrated history of getting projects across the line.

Key job responsibilities
• Provide subject matter expertise to Amazon businesses to guide sustainable shopping initiatives
• Deep dive sustainability-related issues/initiatives to guide business units on a recommended approach
• Develop reports and metrics which distill complex data into actionable insights to support business teams
• Support the evaluation of sustainability certifications, particularly those related to carbon and energy
• Create and implement workflows and mechanisms to build, update, and track against working timelines and project plans

Basic Qualifications
• Bachelor's Degree in Environmental Science, or other Sustainability-related field
• 5+ years of experience developing and executing environmental sustainability programs in the private or public sector
• Experience obtaining, managing, and analyzing environmental data, including carbon data, to determine and drive improvements
• Familiarity with life cycle assessment (LCA) and Greenhouse Gas Protocol
• Preferred Qualifications
• Advanced degree in environmental science, engineering, business or related degree
• 5+ years of owning program strategy, driving end to end delivery, and communicating results to senior leadership experience
• Proven track record of managing large projects from start to finish, including project management, data gathering, problem solving, and communicating recommendations and goals across multiple leadership levels of an organization
• Experience in stakeholder management, dealing with and influencing diverse stakeholders at varied levels of the organization
• Ability to manage multiple simultaneous projects and coordinate with internal and external stakeholders across both technical and business functions, while meeting tight deadlines

Our compensation reflects the cost of labor across several US geographic markets. The base pay for this position ranges from $125,600/year in our lowest geographic market up to $207,600/year in our highest geographic market. Pay is based on a number of factors including market location and may vary depending on job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. Amazon is a total compensation company. Dependent on the position offered, equity, sign-on payments, and other forms of compensation may be provided as part of a total compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical, financial, and/or other benefits.
