This role requires deep hands‑on engineering capability, modern ABAP proficiency, and the ability to collaborate across SAP and BTP technology stacks.You will work across the following areas:Advanced ABAP OO development, including refactoring legacy custom code into modern, maintainable clean‑core patternsABAP RESTful Application Programming Model (RAP) for both managed and unmanaged scenarios, including behavior definitions and service binding modelsCDS‑based domain modeling, including ABAP CDS, analytical/consumption views, annotations for OData/UI, and semantic modeling best practicesOData V2/V4 service design, performance tuning, service exposure patterns, and backend optimization for scalable UI consumptionSAP BTP integration patterns, spanning CAP ↔ ABAP interoperability, side‑by‑side extensions, event‑driven architectures, and hybrid S/4 + BTP designEvent‑driven ABAP using Business Events, RAP event handlers, and event-based orchestration across systemsEnterprise security architectures, including OAuth2 connectivity, principal propagation, role/authorization concepts, and secure extension strategiesPerformance and scalability optimization in S/4HANA, including SQL pushdown, AMDP considerations, memory/performance tracing, and advanced debuggingCross‑stack engineering collaboration with CAP/Node.js services, SAPUI5/Fiori teams, and the Integration SuiteModern debugging and distributed tracing, working across ABAP, SAP BTP services, and integration touchpointsMentorship and engineering leadership, including code reviews, solution design support, and participation in architectural discussionsThis role requires strong technical leadership, hands‑on delivery, and the ability to shape high‑quality, clean‑core SAP solutions.RequirementsWhat You BringCore / Basic ABAP Developer RequirementsStrong ABAP fundamentals (reports, classes, interfaces, enhancements, exits)Proficiency with Open SQL, internal tables, and modularization conceptsExperience creating and consuming basic CDS viewsAbility to consume and expose OData services at a foundational levelSolid debugging capabilities: ABAP debugger, dumps (ST22), performance analysis (SAT, SQL trace)Familiarity with the S/4HANA data model, including key simplification topicsExperience with transport management and the SAP development lifecycleUnderstanding of authorization concepts and security basicsAbility to follow clean-core principles and SAP’s extension guidelinesWhy Join Protera?
