Experience leveraging AI to build intelligent web applications is highly valued. This role partners closely with product, frontend, data, and infrastructure teams to deliver reliable, high‑performance solutions that support business goals. The ideal candidate brings strong Python expertise, sound software engineering practices, and a collaborative mindset, with a focus on writing clean, secure, and maintainable code.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESDesign, develop, and maintain scalable backend services and RESTful APIs using Python and FastAPIWork with SQLModel and MS SQL Server databases to build efficient data layersIntegrate AI/ML capabilities into web-based applicationsDeploy and manage applications hosted on Microsoft AzureCollaborate with frontend developers and cross-functional teams to deliver featuresWrite clean, maintainable, well-tested code following best practicesParticipate in code reviews via Bitbucket and provide constructive feedbackContribute to sprint planning and task management in JiraTroubleshoot and optimize application performanceParticipate in architectural discussions and technical decision-makingAssist with other tasks and/or special projects as requiredWHAT YOU BRING A minimum of (five) 5 years of professional experience in Python backend developmentExperience with SQLModel, SQLAlchemy, or similar ORMsSolid experience with MS SQL Server or other relational databasesUnderstanding of RESTful API design principles and best practicesExperience with Azure cloud services (App Services, Functions, or similar)Familiarity with SDLC tooling: Jira, Bitbucket, Git workflowsStrong problem-solving skills and attention to detailExcellent communication and collaboration abilitiesAbility to thrive in a fast-paced, dynamic environment and drive changes effectively in a competitive marketplaceEmployees who work from home (part-time, full-time, or on occasion) must be able to meet performance standards and department requirements in a productive and professional environmentThis includes the ability to work with little or no distraction(s), consistent internet connectivity, regular and ongoing communication with supervisors(s), reliable childcare and/or eldercare (if applicable), and depending on the role, the ability to discuss and protect all confidential information (company or people related)Presents a professional and tidy appearance (virtually or in person) while attending virtual or in person calls, and/or meetingsTHESE ARE A PLUS Experience integrating AI/ML models or AI services (Azure OpenAI, LangChain, etc.) into applicationsKnowledge of containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)Experience with CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practicesUnderstanding of microservices architectureExperience with async programming and message queuesFamiliarity with testing frameworks (pytest)Experience in the travel or e-commerce industryPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to work in a primary stationary job from a laptop computer and ability and know-how to set up your computer, monitor, etc. at home Ability to communicate (verbally and in writing) clearly in EnglishPHYSICAL REQUIREMENTSAbility to receive and setup company laptop, 15” monitor, keyboard, headset, and mouse (all less than 5-lbs each).
