Sr. Product Designer, Lakebase

Remote Full-time
RDQ426R236 At Databricks, we are passionate about enabling data teams to solve the world’s toughest problems — from making the next mode of transportation a reality to accelerating the development of medical breakthroughs. We do this by building and running the world’s best data and AI infrastructure platform so our customers can use deep data insights to improve their business. Founded by engineers — and customer-obsessed — we leap at every opportunity to tackle technical challenges, from designing next-gen UI/UX for interfacing with data to scaling our services and infrastructure across millions of virtual machines. And we’re only getting started. As a Product Designer on the Lakebase team, you’ll help define and deliver developer workflows that power how users search, navigate, query, branch, and manage compute in Neon and Lakebase. Your work will directly impact how developers adopt our platform, shaping both first-time user experiences and repeat workflows in a high-visibility, strategic product area. The impact you will have: Design and launch innovative database service features: Partner with PM/Eng to define, prototype, validate, and bring new Lakebase capabilities to GA. Integrate UX between Neon and Databricks: Create scalable design patterns that harmonize both product lines, ensuring consistent interaction models and a shared standard of high-quality UX across the platform. Validate with users: Run usability tests and synthesize findings on at least 3 major feature launches, incorporating feedback into iterative improvements. Cross-functional alignment: Partner with PM and engineering to scope, prototype, and deliver features on time, contributing to quarterly OKRs for the Lakebase team. What we look for: 5+ years of product design work experience. Bachelor’s degree or equivalent, ideally in HCI, Interaction Design, Graphic Design, Computer Science, or a related field. Experience shipping great digital products. A designer’s involvement never stops—you’re comfortable overseeing and impacting the entire process from idea to GA. Can execute beautiful visual and interaction work rooted in a data-driven, well-researched UX process. Technical fluency: Comfortable discussing tradeoffs with engineers and working within the constraints of cloud services and data platforms. User research capability: Plan/run studies, synthesize feedback, and make data-informed decisions that move key metrics. Systems thinking: Apply and extend design systems for consistency and scale across multiple surfaces. Collaboration & communication: Present rationale clearly, influence product decisions, and align diverse stakeholders in a fast-moving environment. Outcome orientation: Define success with metrics and iterate to hit them. Portfolio: Work that showcases end-to-end problem solving—from framing to shipped outcomes.
