What Youll Do
Innovate & Architect: Collaborate with a world-class team of systems, optical, electrical, and FPGA engineers to develop customized laser systems. Lead software design and architecture, creating essential design documents that bring your vision to life.
Develop Cutting-Edge Software: Write embedded software across the entire stack, including low-level drivers, OS customization, middleware, and application logic. Implement features like closed-loop control, state/mode management, command processing, and system status reporting for sophisticated laser systems.
Hands-On Integration: Craft software test plans, and support integration and testing from board bring-up through system delivery.
Shape the Future: Contribute to new business initiatives by providing insights for proposals and delivering cost and schedule estimates.
Be the Expert: Showcase your deep knowledge of embedded systems, control software, and complex systems development. Lead initiatives that deliver real impact, from innovative product launches to cutting-edge standards.
What You Bring to the Team
A Bachelors degree in electrical or computer engineering or a related field, with 12+ years of embedded software experience (or Masters degree with 10+ years experience, or Ph.D. with 7+ years experience).
A proven track record in software architecture and design for embedded systems, with a strong grasp of partitioning designs between hardware and software.
Hands-on expertise in embedded processor platforms and experience writing software to interface with FPGAs (AMD/Xilinx platforms? Even better!). Your software toolbox includes C, C++ , and object-oriented programming, plus familiarity with multi-threaded software development .
Skills in real-time operating systems (RTOS) and/or embedded Linux .
Solid understanding of hardware devices, interfaces, and networking protocols.
A knack for developing state machines and closed-loop control systems for dynamic and responsive system designs.
Collaborative experience with cross-disciplinary engineering teams and the ability to clearly present your work to both internal stakeholders and external customers.
Experience with laser systems and high-reliability defense/space systems are a plus.
Knowledge of additional programming languages like Python, C#, LabVIEW, or Rust are a plus.
Eligibility for a U.S. Government security clearance, if one is required to perform job responsibilities.
