Why This Role MattersThis role helps support the technical foundation behind Citrine’s platform and engineering organization. The person in this role will contribute to infrastructure and deployment systems that are observable, reliable, scalable, and aligned with the needs of a growing team.About the RoleCitrine Informatics is looking for a Senior Infrastructure / Platform Engineer to help shape, implement, and operate scalable cloud infrastructure and platform systems. This role is a fit for someone with experience across infrastructure, automation, deployment, and production operations, and who enjoys working closely with others to improve reliability, developer workflows, and platform capabilities. This person will contribute to cloud infrastructure in AWS, infrastructure as code, Kubernetes operations, CI/CD, observability, and containerization. Successful candidates will likely bring:Experience working closely with others in shared technical environmentsA communication style that supports productive collaboration, knowledge sharing, and healthy decision-makingComfort making progress in situations where not every variable is known at the outsetA practical, iterative mindset and willingness to learn as the team moves forwardFlexibility to take on a range of responsibilities depending on team priorities and current challengesGood judgment in managing time, scope, and competing prioritiesResponsibilitiesDesign, implement, and maintain cloud infrastructure in AWS with attention to scalability, reliability, security, and automationManage infrastructure using Infrastructure as Code, including hands-on work with Terraform and experience with CloudFormationDeploy, administer, and maintain Kubernetes clusters in production environmentsImprove platform tooling, deployment workflows, and operational practices that support engineering teams and production systemsImplement and manage observability and monitoring solutions, ideally including experience with Datadog, across metrics, logging, alerting, and incident responseWork with containerized systems and deployment workflows, including image build pipelines and optimization techniquesCreate and maintain CI/CD pipelines, including required experience with GitHub Actions; experience with Jenkins and/or ArgoCD is a plusPartner with teammates across engineering to identify needs, evaluate options, and deliver practical infrastructure and platform solutionsInvestigate platform and infrastructure issues, support root-cause analysis, and contribute to sustainable improvementsParticipate in technical planning, architecture discussions, and continuous improvement efforts across the platform engineering functionSkills and ExperienceExperience in infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, DevOps, or site reliability engineering rolesHands-on experience working in AWS production environments, preferably experience using CloudFormationMeaningful hands-on expertise with Terraform, including writing and managing infrastructure beyond basic exposureExperience implementing observability and monitoring practices, preferably with DatadogProduction experience with Kubernetes administration and deployment, including cluster deployment, configuration, and maintenanceExperience with container build and deployment systems, including image optimization techniques such as layer management and efficient build strategiesExperience implementing and managing CI/CD pipelines, especially with GitHub ActionsExperience contributing to the design and deployment of infrastructure or platform systems from implementation through production operationsComfort working through technical challenges in environments where priorities and requirements may continue to evolveNice-to-HavesExperience in startup or high-growth environments with small, collaborative teamsExposure to platform engineering practices such as developer enablement, internal tooling, and operational maturity initiativesExperience balancing near-term delivery with longer-term maintainabilityStudies have shown that women and underrepresented minorities are less likely to apply for jobs unless they meet every single qualification listed. The annual salary range listed below reflects the level we are considering for this position (please note that there may be unique situations where you may fall outside of this range).
