Sr Embedded Software Engineer

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES

The duties and responsibilities outlined below include essential functions of the role. Depending on business needs, this role may perform a combination of some or all of the following duties. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change, or new ones may be assigned at any time with or without notice.
• Collaborate with physicists and across electrical, software, and opto-mechanical engineering domains to deliver optimal embedded software solutions for quantum applications
• Develop reliable and robust embedded software that leverages high test coverage and CI pipelines to facilitate smooth collaboration with peers and deploy with confidence
• Support hands on tuning and troubleshooting in laboratory and test bench environments
• Build thorough documentation and mathematical models to demonstrate that algorithms, approaches, and signal processing technique meet critical architecture requirements
• Participate in design, code, and data reviews

Requirements
• Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science or related field and a minimum of 8 years prior work experience.
• Experience with Rust or experience with compiled languages (C/C++) and desire to learn and work in Rust
• Experience with interpreting datasheets and schematics
• Knowledge of Embedded Linux development in user and kernel space
• Good verbal and written communication skills, able to effectively share information with technical and non-technical staff
• Good collaboration skills, able to work in a team environment where engagement and participation are an expected part of successful job performance
• Skilled in typical software engineering disciplines: testing, revision control, error-handling, readability, documentation, general code health, etc.
• Desire to constantly improve and learn inside and outside of expertise

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE:
• Developing for programmable logic targets (especially Xilinx Zynq MPSOC)
• Comfort with low-level development on several processor architectures (ARM Cortex, ARM Application, RISC-V, etc.)
• Embedded Linux OS distribution builds (nix, Yocto, or Buildroot)
• High-performance real time development (bare metal / RTOS)
• Familiarity with common electrical test equipment like oscilloscopes and spectrum analyzers
• Familiarity with programmable logic / FPGAs and working with hardware descriptive languages
• Control system architecture and design

Benefits

The targeted salary range for this role is $131,000 to $175,000 on an annualized basis plus eligibility to participate in our annual incentive plan.
