Sr. Director, Data and Analytics Engineering - 11063

Remote Full-time
About the position

We are seeking a high-impact Senior Director of Data & Analytics Engineering to architect and scale our enterprise data capabilities. As a key leadership figure, you’ll possess over 12 years of experience, with a proven track record of building high-performing, multi-tiered teams and driving data strategy at scale. You are an expert at bridging the gap between complex technical infrastructure and executive-level business outcomes, ensuring our data ecosystem is scalable and performant. While technical and fluent in modern stack orchestration, your primary impact will be in institutionalizing engineering excellence, mentoring the next generation of leaders, and serving as a strategic partner to the business in a high-growth, multi-project environment.

Responsibilities
• Architect the Vision: Define and execute the long-term roadmap for analytics engineering, data architecture, and BI, ensuring our data stack scales with the business.
• Drive Value: Translate complex business objectives into high-impact data models and self-service BI solutions that empower executive decision-making.
• Set the Gold Standard: Own the evolution of our SQL-based data modeling and warehouse optimization strategies to ensure peak performance and reliability.
• Scale with dbt: Lead the strategic adoption of dbt, championing modular design, rigorous testing, and comprehensive documentation across all data domains.
• Build Trusted Assets: Oversee the lifecycle of data transformations to ensure every asset is governed, reusable, and serves as a "single source of truth."
• Operational Excellence: Institutionalize elite engineering standards for code reviews, CI/CD, monitoring, and proactive incident management.
• Strategic Liaison: Act as the primary point of accountability for BI outcomes, working alongside C-suite and VP-level stakeholders to prioritize high-value initiatives.
• Evangelize Data: Foster a data-driven culture by ensuring data assets are discoverable, well-documented, and championed across the organization.
• Transparency: Communicate technical roadmaps, risks, and trade-offs to non-technical audiences with clarity and executive presence.

Requirements
• 12+ Years of Experience: Proven track record in Data/Analytics Engineering, with at least 5 years in a significant leadership role managing managers.
• Modern Stack Expertise: Expert-level command of SQL, dbt, and cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, or Databricks).
• BI Power User: Deep experience scaling enterprise-grade Tableau environments and fostering "governed self-service" cultures.
• Change Agent: You don’t just manage teams; you build them. You have experience recruiting, mentoring, and retaining high-performing engineering talent.
• Business Acumen: The ability to link technical architecture directly to P&L impact and operational efficiency.
• Education: BS/MS in Computer Science, Engineering, Mathematics, or a related technical field (or equivalent professional experience).
