Job Description Specific Responsibilities: Serve as immunology scientific expert in to drive a deep understanding of drug mechanism of action and modulation of immunological pathways of autoimmune disease. Apply knowledge of pathway biology to understand the fundamental basis of dysregulated innate and adaptive immunity in normal and disease states for affected tissues Lead and develop colleagues using effective coaching and mentorship to maximize performance, engagement, and scientific growth Design and supervise implementation of studies to build confidence-in-rationale in additional indications for clinical stage assets Identify novel targets and pathways to treat autoimmune and inflammatory diseases; connecting cutting-edge science with unmet medical need Work with internal program leads to identify potential indications for preclinical stage assets based on knowledge of disease pathways Work with internal extramural research lead to elaborate and defend scientific rationale underpinning research and clinical collaborations Liaise with internal BD colleagues to execute scientific due diligence for external opportunity assessments. Requirements: Requires an MD or PhD in Immunology with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in both the academic and industrial sectors A strong record of accomplishment in the field, including publications, patents, and presentations Expertise in transitioning discovery research through translational human biology to clinical development, including validated biomarkers and clinical endpoints Proven leadership, strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate effectively to scientific and non-scientific groups is required Proven track record of delivery of experimental or novel studies The salary range for this position is: $261,375.00 - $338,250.00. Gilead considers a variety of factors when determining base compensation, including experience, qualifications, and geographic location. These considerations mean actual compensation will vary. This position may also be eligible for a discretionary annual bonus, discretionary stock-based long-term incentives (eligibility may vary based on role), paid time off, and a benefits package.
