Job Description NBCU is seeking a highly skilled Senior DevOps Engineer to join NBCU’s Distribution Engineering organization. This role requires deep technical expertise, strong problem-solving skills, and a solid understanding of Agile and DevOps principles. The Senior DevOps Engineer will design and maintain scalable, reliable, and efficient CI/CD pipelines, automate infrastructure, and ensure the stability and performance of NBCU’s core Playout platform. You will work on complex systems, drive automation initiatives, and collaborate with cross-functional teams to deliver high-quality solutions that enhance operational efficiency. RESPONSIBILITIES: · Design and implement scalable CI/CD pipelines to streamline software delivery. · Automate deployment processes and maintain cloud-based production systems for optimal performance. · Embed security, quality checks, and automated testing into the delivery pipeline. · Support release cycles, ensuring smooth deployments across development, staging, and production environments. · Research and adopt emerging technologies and vendor solutions to enhance infrastructure and workflows. · Apply Infrastructure as Code (IaC) principles using tools like Terraform for resource provisioning. · Collaborate with internal teams and external vendors to meet technical and business requirements. · Diagnose and resolve complex system issues, ensuring minimal downtime. · Establish monitoring, logging, and metrics frameworks for pipeline and system health. · Recommend best practices and process improvements to optimize DevOps operations. · Provide Tier 2 support for operational and on-air engineering teams. Note: This role does not involve 24/7 on-call duties; Tier 1 handles first-level support. Qualifications REQUIREMENTS: · Strong understanding of broadcast and media distribution technologies. · Bachelor’s or master’s degree in computer science or related discipline. · 5+ years of hands-on experience in DevOps, infrastructure automation, and cloud operations. · Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code tools (e.g., Terraform). · Expertise in AWS, GCP, or Azure cloud environments. · Advanced skills in CI/CD orchestration tools (e.g., GitHub Actions, Jenkins). · Solid experience with containerization and Kubernetes orchestration. · Strong Linux administration and networking knowledge in cloud environments. · Skilled in scripting languages such as Bash, Python, YAML, Ruby, or JavaScript. · Familiarity with Agile methodologies for project execution. · A mindset focused on automation and continuous improvement. DESIRED CHARACTERISTICS: · Exposure to IP video technologies and streaming workflows. · Experience with monitoring and logging tools (e.g., Prometheus, ELK, Grafana). · Ability to communicate complex technical concepts clearly and effectively. · Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive approach. · Comfortable working in fast-paced, evolving environments. · Knowledge of DevSecOps principles and security best practices.
