Spiral Machine Operator
Smith Personnel is looking for a Spiral Machine Operator with 2-3 years of experience to join our team in a manufacturing setting where we produce HVAC units. The candidate must be skilled in reading a tape measure and operating spiral machinery. Duties include setting up and operating machines, monitoring production, and ensuring adherence to safety standards. Additional responsibilities include performing quality checks, maintaining equipment, and assisting with inventory management.

Schedule: Monday-Saturday, 7:00am-3:30pm (flexibility for OT starting at 5am required)
Essential Functions:
Set up and operate spiral machines, including loading and unloading bobbins.
Perform bobbin winding, strip bobbins, and set tension.
Operate Karg braiders and perform changeovers.
String decks, set preforms, and run hoses.
Change tubes, layers, covers, and machine tooling/gears based on product requirements.
Wrap nylon tape around products.
Use and understand calipers to measure product specifications.
Fill out paperwork accurately and document good and non-conforming products.
Follow process specification sheets and maintain production schedules.
Work safely and report any unsafe conditions or practices.
Requirements:
Minimum 2-3 years of experience as a Spiral Machine Operator.
Proficiency in reading a tape measure.
Ability to work flexible hours, including overtime starting at 5am.
Strong attention to detail and safety protocols.
Good communication skills and ability to work in a team.
Basic mechanical skills and ability to perform minor repairs.
Skills and Qualifications:
Basic knowledge and use of hand tools.
Good verbal and interpersonal communication skills.
Strong decision-making and troubleshooting skills.
Good math, reading, and writing skills.
Demonstrated mechanical aptitude.
Ability to work well in a team environment.
Basic computer skills.
Ability to monitor machine sounds to identify and diagnose changes.
Physical Requirements:
Ability to lift and carry up to 50 lbs.
Frequent bending, twisting, turning, and reaching.
Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
