Special Education Teacher, Grades 6-12 (Remote – Colorado Only))
Position SummaryThe Special Education Mentor supports students through a combination of co-teaching in general education settings and targeted lab instruction aligned to individualized learning needs. This role focuses on delivering specialized instruction in either Math or Language Arts/Study Skills while fostering student growth, independence, and academic success.Essential Duties (Top 5 Roles)1) Co-Teaching in General Education ClassroomsCollaborate with general education mentors to plan and deliver instruction that supports diverse learnersImplement accommodations and modifications aligned to student learning plansFacilitate small group and differentiated instruction within the classroom setting2) Specialized Lab InstructionProvide direct instruction in a lab setting to support special education service minutes in:ReadingWritingMathStudy Skills ● Design targeted lessons based on student needs and progress data ● Support skill development in organization, executive functioning, and academic intervention3) Content-Specific Instructional RoleServe in a clearly defined instructional focus area:Math Mentor: Deliver math intervention and support numeracy skill development through both co-teaching and lab instructionLanguage Arts/Study Skills Mentor: Deliver reading, writing, and study skills instruction through both co-teaching and lab instructionPlan and deliver instruction aligned to both general education curriculum and specialized learning needsEnsure consistency between co-taught classes and lab-based interventions4) Progress Monitoring & Data TrackingTrack student progress toward academic and skill-based goalsUse data to inform instructional decisions and interventionsCommunicate progress with internal stakeholders as needed5) Collaboration & Program SupportPartner with academic teams to ensure alignment of support strategiesContribute to a positive, student-centered learning environmentParticipate in team meetings, planning sessions, and professional developmentNon-Essential DutiesPlease note that this job description is not designed to cover or contain a comprehensive listing of the activities, duties, or responsibilities that are required of the employee for this job. Duties, responsibilities, and activities may change at any time, with or without notice.Minimum QualificationsSpecial Education Teaching License in the state of Colorado Colorado Resident Experience supporting diverse learners in academic settingsAbility to differentiate instruction across multiple subject areasStrong collaboration and communication skillsFamiliarity with progress monitoring and intervention strategiesPreferred QualificationsExperience working in a virtual or online learning environmentExperience co-teaching in inclusive classroom settingsFamiliarity with digital learning platforms and toolsExperience supporting students with executive functioning and study skills developmentWorking ConditionsFull-time remote positionMust be available during regular business hours and peak enrollment cyclesOccasional off-hour virtual meetings may be requiredOccasional in-person evaluations or student support may be needed BenefitsAfter meeting the eligibility requirements, benefits are available, including Health, 401(k) Retirement, Paid Holidays, and Paid Time Off.
