Key Responsibilities Design and deliver high-quality instruction aligned with Minnesota State Standards and District Graduation Requirements, catering to the diverse needs of students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities. Utilize a range of assessment strategies to inform instructional decisions, promote student self-management of learning, and foster a culture of continuous improvement. Create engaging, inquiry-based learning tasks that encourage students to explore the subject matter in depth and develop essential skills in critical thinking, problem-solving, and collaboration. Collaborate with peers to develop and implement best practices, share knowledge, and support student success. Assess student developmental, cognitive, and social needs, and provide tailored instruction to meet those needs, ensuring a safe, respectful, and inclusive learning environment. Communicate regularly with families, involving them in educational decisions and leveraging community resources to support student learning. Participate in ongoing professional development, reflecting on teaching practices, and contributing to the continuous improvement of the MPS Online K-5 program. Essential Qualifications and Requirements To be considered for this role, you must possess: A Bachelor's Degree from an accredited university. A valid Minnesota teaching license in Mild to Moderate Developmental Disabilities or Academic Behavior Strategist, or proof of pending approved licensure. Prior successful experience in student teaching or teaching in an urban, multicultural education setting. Demonstrated commitment to ongoing professional development through coursework, research, peer collaboration, and job-embedded staff development. Preferred qualifications include: Experience working with students with Developmental Cognitive Disabilities. Knowledge of best practices in special education, including Universal Design for Learning (UDL) and Differentiated Instruction. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with students, families, and colleagues.
