## Position Overview
• Teaching Responsibilities:** As a Special Education Teacher, you will play a critical role in achieving our schools' academic and cultural objectives. Your duties will include:
• Daily lesson planning and intentional curriculum design
• Regular data analysis to support student learning and growth
• Implementation of Social Emotional Learning and Restorative Practices to create an inclusive classroom environment
• Collaboration and Support:** You will collaborate closely with the school's Leadership Team, including an Instructional Coach, participating in weekly meetings and receiving ongoing feedback to improve instructional practices.
• Commitment to Equity:** We are dedicated to fostering an anti-racist school community. You will engage in continuous personal development to assess how your identity and experiences influence your role as an educator. This will involve a collective analysis of our school systems and culture to enhance our commitment to equity and inclusion.

## Preferred Qualifications

Experience
• Previous experience working with a student demographic similar to our community.

Education
• A B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution.
• One of the following credentials:
• Valid teaching credential in Special Education
• Eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit
• Eligibility for a Short-Term Staff Permit

• Proficiency in Google Suite applications (Google Classroom, Docs, Sheets, etc.).

## Essential Functions and Responsibilities
• Lead the development and implementation of Individualized Education Plans (IEPs) in accordance with state and federal regulations.
• Collaborate with stakeholders to define measurable annual goals in academics, behavior, and social-emotional areas.
• Provide specialized instruction and intervention services through models like co-teaching and one-on-one support.
• Regularly collect and analyze data to track student progress and communicate updates to families.
• Create lesson plans that align with students' IEPs and academic goals.
• Work alongside general education colleagues to adapt materials to meet students' needs.
• Develop modified lessons and provide training for stakeholders supporting instruction.
• Maintain an inclusive and engaging learning environment using Restorative Practices and research-based strategies.
• Employ culturally responsive classroom management techniques to ensure a safe learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders.
• Participate in professional development and communities of practice.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date special education records and documentation.

## Physical, Mental, and Environmental Demands

Physical Demands
• Ability to navigate school settings and utilize technology, including occasional lifting of equipment (1-20 lbs.) and physical agility for various tasks.

Mental Demands
• Capacity to manage stress, analyze problems, work with interruptions, and maintain concentration.

Environmental Demands
• Work in a school setting with frequent interruptions, and adapt to virtual or hybrid work environments as necessary, while adhering to health and safety guidelines.

## Employment Information

This is a full-time, exempt position aligned with the school year calendar, based at our school sites.
