About the Role As a Special Education Teacher Assistant with Scoot Education, you'll have the flexibility to work on a remote basis, providing support to teachers and students in various educational settings. Key Responsibilities Follow and teach lesson plans provided by the regular teacher, ensuring continuity and quality education for students. Instruct based on subject and grade-specific curriculum, adapting to the needs of special education students. Monitor and assess student achievements and outcomes, providing valuable feedback to teachers and staff. Exercise classroom and behavior management skills, creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. Share your specialized knowledge to coach staff and support special education students, promoting a collaborative approach to education. Essential Qualifications Active Teaching license with a special education generalist (5-21) and/or special education specialist (5-21) endorsement(s). Substitute Authorization (must have or be in the process of obtaining if license is expired). Three References, including one from a previous direct supervisor. Completion of a Background Check for Scoot Education (reimbursed on your first paycheck). Completion of a Background Check for the Colorado Department of Education (required for Substitute Authorization). Preferred Qualifications Experience working with special education students, particularly those with diverse needs and abilities. Knowledge of trauma-informed teaching practices and classroom management strategies. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with teachers, staff, and students. Flexibility and adaptability, with a willingness to work in a fast-paced, dynamic environment. Skills and Competencies Strong instructional skills, with the ability to adapt to different teaching styles and curricula. Classroom and behavior management skills, with a focus on creating a safe and inclusive learning environment. Ability to work effectively with special education students, understanding their unique needs and challenges. Collaboration and teamwork skills, with a willingness to work with teachers, staff, and other stakeholders.
