Job Summary:
At SignGlasses we provide interpreting services, captioning services, and platform scheduling services specialized for business, engineering, education, medical and healthcare, legal, and more. SignGlasses' mission is to give humans the power to communicate and form connections by bridging the gap between accessibility wherever and whenever needed.
We are seeking like-minded and passionate individuals to join our team as remote Spanish CART captioner.
Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:
• Provide real-time Spanish-to-Spanish and English-to-Spanish captioning services in a variety of settings using approved real-time software
• Provide immediate verbatim translation of spoken Spanish into text so the consumer can read the text on displayed devices as it is created
• Assist consumer(s) with concurrent participation in the communication process by
maintaining high-quality standards for captioning services
• Convey the content of the message clearly and accurately
• Work with the SignGlasses staff to resolve any technical issues and any issues around access to materials for captioners and/or consumer
• Reliable and excellent attention to detail
• Provide consumer(s) with a final, edited transcript
• Maintain current backups of real-time dictionaries and user profiles
• Must comply with the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA) Code of Professional Ethics regarding impartiality, confidentiality, and integrity
• Maintain a working knowledge of the subject matter to enable effective transcription for all required disciplines
Required Skills and Qualifications:
• At least 2 years of previous experience captioning in professional settings
• Experience with team captioning
• Comprehensive knowledge of the Spanish and English language, including grammatical structures, syntax, spelling vocabulary, and punctuation
• Experience and possession of appropriate software captioning public and/or live-streamed events with projected captions
• Proficiently write in real-time in a conflict-free manner using punctuation and sustaining accuracy in fast-paced stressful situations
• Typing speed of at least 120+ wpm, with no errors
• Must hold one or more of the following: RPR, RMR, RDR, CRR, CRC
Pre-Employment Requirements:
• Passing company assessment
• Operating systems: 32-bit or 64-bit Windows 11, 10, 8, or 7—or MacOS with special software
• Stenographic machine and equipment with appropriate software
• Dedicated confidential workspace
