As a key member of our team, you will play a crucial role in driving a culture of safety, efficiency, and innovation by identifying measurable trends and performance metrics to enhance our Quality Control department. About the Role The Quality Control Standards Data Analyst Intern will assist in leveraging data to develop, present, and recommend novel ideas and initiatives, as well as perform critical analysis to mitigate the risk of non-compliance through process enhancements. These improvements will support Company objectives, including maintaining low costs, modernizing operations, and enhancing compliance, thereby providing a competitive advantage to Southwest Airlines. Key Responsibilities Perform and assist others in the Quality Control team in timely data collection, validation, and root cause analysis on data elements. Help develop and communicate insights from complex data and analysis for both technical and non-technical Customers and Leaders. Assist in analyzing critical ad-hoc requests resulting from emerging support issues and provide insightful responses to enable Senior Leadership to make informed business decisions while balancing existing project commitments. Present insights, trends, and potential recommendations using data visualization tools, supporting the relevant marks of the analysis to ease stakeholder understanding. Help develop and distribute specialized queries to pull and organize data from various sources, establishing the rhythm, and validating the need for data requirements. Identify anomalies in processes through reviews/audits and communicate findings to the Team. Evaluate the effectiveness of processes and procedures by monitoring for trends and errors. Ensure that a compliance mindset is at the forefront of every decision. May perform other work-related tasks as directed by Team Leader. Essential Qualifications To be successful in this role, you should possess: Proven ability to collect, organize, and analyze significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy. Capacity to effectively listen to, understand, and communicate ideas and present written, verbal, or presentations delivered to groups of varying audiences. Ability to assess business issues, identify opportunities for data needs, and interpret resulting metrics. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office. Ability to understand the issue, to summarize and perform root cause analysis on data, and provide recommendations using logic and reasoning. Capacity to work effectively in a strong support/team-oriented environment. Ability to prioritize responsibilities effectively and be an independent organizer. Capacity to manage sensitive and confidential information appropriately. Ability to plan and support large business initiatives. Preferred Qualifications To further enhance your candidacy, you may possess: Knowledge of data visualization tools and capabilities, such as Tableau, Alteryx, and QuickBase. Proficiency in using PowerPoint to build presentations for verbal communications. Previous internship, capstone projects, and research coursework. Prior internship experience in a related field.
