JobHub by NeonLabs, in partnership with Mercor, is seeking experienced Software Engineers to support high-impact AI research collaborations with leading AI labs.
In this role, you’ll help improve how advanced models reason through complex coding tasks by reconstructing and annotating developer thought processes across real-world software engineering problems.
This is a unique opportunity to apply your engineering expertise to frontier AI systems while working remotely on a flexible contract schedule.
What You’ll Do
• Review model-generated code trajectories on realistic software engineering tasks
• Reconstruct the reasoning behind each step of a solution process
• Annotate debugging decisions, logic branches, and problem-solving strategies
• Use full task context (codebase, issue descriptions, and tests) to infer plausible reasoning
• Ensure annotations reflect realistic developer workflows and technical accuracy
Ideal Qualifications
• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience
• Strong debugging and problem-solving experience working in real codebases
• Degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or related field (Bachelor’s minimum)
• Strong proficiency in Python, JavaScript, TypeScript, or other common open-source languages
• Familiarity with version control workflows such as Git, pull requests, and issue tracking
• Comfortable explaining technical reasoning in structured written form
Eligible Locations

Details
• Pay: $70–$130 per hour (USD)
• Type: Hourly Contract | Remote | Flexible Schedule
• Start Date: Immediate
• Duration: 1–2 months (extensions possible)
• Commitment: 15–25 hours per week, with flexibility up to 40 hours
• Classification: Independent Contractor through Mercor
• Payments: Weekly via Stripe or Wise
