Software Engineer / Analytics Engineer

Remote Full-time
About the position

This is a full-time in office (hybrid) role based in our Austin, Dallas or New York offices. This position is part of Sixth Street's growing data analytics team. You will play a pivotal role in how we story-tell with our data—transforming complex information into compelling, actionable insights. We have built, and will continue to build, custom analytics solutions, giving you room for creativity in how data is displayed, visualized, and consumed across the organization.
This role requires versatility. While your primary focus will be analytics engineering, you will occasionally wear multiple hats: the data engineering hat when building data pipelines to bring in data needed for dashboards, the software engineering hat to ensure dashboard components are reusable across the company by contributing to our internal libraries, and the infrastructure hat to maintain impeccable CI/CD processes and ensure our stacks are optimized for scalability and performance.
About our Product and Stack

We are heavily Python / AWS centric, leaning on containerized services and service-oriented-architecture
We utilize S3 and Snowflake for our date lake and operational data store solutions
We use Airflow for workflow orchestration
We use Github Actions for CI/CD
We use Cloudformation and CDK for Infrastructure as Code

Responsibilities

• Build and maintain data pipelines to support dashboard and reporting needs
• Contribute to internal libraries to ensure dashboard components are reusable and consistent across the company
• Support CI/CD processes and infrastructure to ensure scalability and performance
• Work with tools like GitHub, Jira, Docker, Snowflake, Postgres, and various AWS offerings

Requirements
• Highly motivated, entrepreneurial, and team-oriented candidates with strong problem-solving skills
• Team orientation and influencing skills
• High Trust and Integrity
• Strategic / Entrepreneurial Mindset
• Strong combination of organizational and interpersonal/communication skills

Nice-to-haves
• 5+ years of total experience in software development with 3+ years in Python
• Degree in Computer Science or a STEM field
• Advanced programming skills with a focus on writing clean, modular and testable code.
• Experience working with relational data stores (e.g., Snowflake, Postgres)
• Experience with Airflow or similar workflow orchestration tools to manage complex data dependencies and scheduling
• Experience with React (or an eagerness to learn) to help build and maintain our custom internal analytics libraries and UI components.
• Experience with data visualization tools and building dashboards
• Passion for CI/CD and shipping well-engineered code in a repeatable and reliable way
• Comfortable working in a Unix shell
• Curiosity and hunger to keep learning
• Strong sense of urgency; ability to execute quickly and efficiently with strong attention to detail
• Strong verbal and written communication abilities
• Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple teams, including product and engineering
