This position is responsible for managing a team of highly skilled software and database engineers, fostering a collaborative and high-performance environment to develop innovative solutions that meet business and customer needs.With a focus on both strategic planning and execution, the Software Team Manager evaluates upcoming projects, assesses feasibility and scope, and ensures efficient resource allocation to meet development timelines. This role requires a strong technical foundation, as the manager is expected to perform all the responsibilities of a Software Engineer III, while also providing mentorship, technical guidance, and leadership to enhance team capabilities.Beyond day-to-day development efforts, the Software Team Manager is accountable for maintaining high product quality standards, streamlining workflows, and driving continuous improvement in engineering processes. This role also serves as a bridge between the development team and other departments, ensuring cross-functional alignment and seamless collaboration. Working closely with the Director of Software Development, the Software Team Manager helps define priorities, assign tasks, and drive strategic initiatives that align with Nextech’s broader technology and business objectives.All activities must be in compliance with Equal Employment Opportunity laws, HIPAA, ERISA, and other regulations, as appropriate. Essential Functions Software Development & Engineering:Design, develop, and maintain software using C#, Angular/TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, and other relevant technologies.Architect and implement scalable, high-performance solutions for complex systems.Perform code reviews, unit testing, and CI/CD implementation to uphold best development practices.Lead and coordinate software development projects independently, ensuring efficiency and quality.Team Leadership & Management:Supervise, mentor, and provide technical direction to Software Engineers and Data Engineers.Foster a culture of continuous learning, innovation, and collaboration within the development team.Guide and manage software development initiatives, ensuring alignment with business goals.Drive organizational improvements and best practices across the software engineering department.Project Execution & Cross-Functional Collaboration:Work closely with product owners to refine and define high-quality requirements.Accurately estimate project deadlines and manage competing priorities effectively.Collaborate with stakeholders across different levels of the organization, ensuring alignment on product and development strategies.Investigate and troubleshoot complex customer-facing issues, providing strategic solutions.Technology & Process Optimization:Advocate for DevOps best practices and champion continuous integration and deployment strategies.Identify and implement efficiency improvements within software development workflows.Stay ahead of industry trends to drive innovation within Nextech’s engineering ecosystem.Maintain a deep technical knowledge of all Nextech products and technologies, ensuring expertise across systems.- Minimum Requirements Strong proficiency in C#, Angular/TypeScript, JavaScript, SQL, and cloud-hosted environments.7-10 years of industry experience, including building robust, scalable back-end systems.3-5 years of experience with the Microsoft tech stack, including Microsoft SQL Server and advanced query writing.A solid understanding of Agile development methodologies and experience delivering products to market.At least 3 years of experience leading or coaching software and database engineers.Proven ability to provide constructive feedback, mentor junior engineers, and foster a collaborative team culture.Strong interpersonal and communication skills to engage effectively with stakeholders across the organization.A passion for writing clean, efficient code, maintaining high-quality standards, and championing best practices.Ability to analyze complex technical challenges and propose innovative solutions.Strong analytical skills and a keen eye for detail, scalability, and security considerations.A growth mindset with a commitment to continuous learning and improvement.Ability to thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment, taking ownership of projects and delivering results.Enthusiasm for open, constructive dialogue within teams and across departments. Preferred Qualifications Leading software development for data-driven and reporting projects.Strong proficiency with Git and GitHub for version control and collaboration.Hands-on experience with Microsoft Azure and Azure DevOps for cloud computing and development operations.Familiarity with Jira for project management and issue tracking.Knowledge of Microsoft technologies and Azure cloud services, including Azure SQL, Azure DataBricks, Spark on Azure, Microsoft Purview, Azure Data Lake Storage, One Lake, Power BI, and Microsoft Fabric.Understanding of ETL processes and tools for data transformation.Strong cross-functional collaboration skills, particularly in liaising between Data and Product Teams.Prior experience working with medical systems and regulatory processes.
