Software Development Manager - Fulfillment Technology
Our Opportunity:
Chewy is hiring a Software Development Manager in Boston, MA or Minneapolis, MN to lead a team that is responsible for features and services that support fulfillment execution within Chewys fulfillment centers and pharmacies. You will help to mature and extend our existing systems, while at the same time introducing newly architected systems that will enable Chewy to scale into... the future. This entails innovating processes, reporting, and aligning development strategies to support Chewys explosive growth. As part of a dynamic team, this role offers a tremendous opportunity for professional growth in the leading online pet retailer in the US.
What you'll do:
Manage/Lead a team of software engineers in the development, testing and deployment of our platform, facilitate agile processes, and remove impediments
Provide guidance and support for your team's products and drive incident management towards resolution
Partner with our recruiting team to continue to build your team and mentor the growth of the existing team
Drive technical decisions and work with your partner TPM to plan, track, and deliver software projects
Establish strong working relationships at all organizational levels and cross-functional teams
Youll review architecture, design, and implementations, and youll provide feedback to individual contributors
Youll be able to identify and manage priorities within the context of overall corporate objectives
Work with others in Engineering Management to drive best practices in software development, testing, and production deployment
What you'll need:
Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Science, or a similar math or engineering discipline, or equivalent work experience
Demonstrated history of implementing and managing significant software development projects
7+ years of proven Software Engineering experience delivering commercial and mission-critical software
2+ years of experience leading teams of 5+ Engineers
Experience with designing, building and deploying scalable, highly available micro-services
Experience with Java and related frameworks like Spring Boot for RESTful APIs
Experience with developing CI/CD pipelines using tools such as Docker containers and Jenkins
Experience with cloud technologies, preferably AWS or similar cloud providers
Proven delivery experience working under an Agile/Scrum methodology
Proven experience in delivering end to end scalable solutions
Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
Position may include occasional travel
Bonus:
Experience in e-commerce software systems
Experience working with React and Spring Boot
Experience working with Linux and Kubernetes
Experience with RDBS and noSQL databases such as SQL Server and DynamoDB
Additional languages beyond Java such as Python or JavaScript
