Software Dev Engineer II, Platform Matching, Amazon Selection and Catalogue Services

Remote Full-time
Description

Want to help us build software systems to make the world’s best product catalog better?

An information-rich and accurate product catalog is a strategic asset for Amazon. Our objective is to have a unique and unambiguous identity for every product available in Amazon Catalog. A product has a unique identity if there is a single record representing it. A product’s identity is unambiguous if the corresponding record provides enough information to enable a customer to clearly ascertain what product they are viewing. (“what is it?”). We envision an end state where we eliminate all duplicate records and avoid associating seller-provided product information to the wrong records in the Amazon catalog worldwide. We employ a combination of human-curated rules and machine learning techniques and apply them to product data at Amazon scale.

We are looking for a customer-focused and highly-motivated software design engineer to help build software systems to improve the quality of Earth’s largest e-commerce catalog. This role will present you an opportunity to work with collaborative leaders, work backwards from customers, identify problems, propose innovative solutions, relentlessly raise standards, and have a positive impact on hundreds of millions of Amazon customers.

About The Team

We improve the shopping experience by correctly mapping Selling Partner contributions to items in the Amazon Catalog. We ensure price competition for buyers by making sure that multiple sellers offering the same item compete directly against one another. We preserve customer and seller trust by ensuring that all offers for each item in the catalog represent the same product, and ensure that the sales and review history of one product isn't hijacked to improperly promote another product.

Basic Qualifications
• 3+ years of non-internship professional software development experience
• 2+ years of non-internship design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience
• Experience programming with at least one modern language such as Java, C++, or C# including object-oriented design

Preferred Qualifications
• 3+ years of full software development life cycle, including coding standards, code reviews, source control management, build processes, testing, and operations experience
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent
